Volunteer Profiles & Partnerships

Many businesses and organizations in the Baltimore area are investing in the community through the BFA.

Center for Community Technology Services

CCTS (http://ccts.ubalt.edu) worked with BFA to develop its new and improved web presence. CCTS staff and graduate students from the University of Baltimore provided guidance and support to BFA stakeholders to bring to life what being “freedomized” means on the internet.

Art on Purpose, Inc.

BFA partners with Art on Purpose (www.artonpurpose.org) to offer students an art education program that combines learning of art skills and teaching of art skills to middle school students. The program also includes a job skills training component that prepares students to be able to acquire summer employment as art interns or summer camp instructors.

Constellation Energy

Employees of Constellation Energy have supported BFA in many ways ranging from providing a matching grant to our annual parent giving campaign, serving as mentors to students, serving on the Board of Directors for the BFA Foundation, Inc. to volunteering to be interviewers in our On Campus Interviewing program providing students with mock interviews.

Struever Bros., Eccles and Rouse - JWRouse Day

BFA was one of the designated sites at Struever Bros., Eccles and Rouse . Through generous contributions by Struever Bros., H & S Development and other corporate partners as well as the sweat equity of many volunteers, BFA students were treated to a new College Center and Student Lounge while faculty have been able to enjoy a confortable and user friendly faculty lounge.

There are also numerous individuals who help to make BFA a thriving, nurturing place for students. Here are some of the people who have volunteered or are volunteering at BFA:

Deb Emerson

Deb has been volunteering at BFA for two years in several capacities ranging from serving on our volunteer committee to coordinating our mock interviews for students. Ms. Emerson, who works at Constellation Energy, also supports BFA students in the B4Students Mentoring program at Constellation. Deb stands out for the commitments she makes to young people in her free time. She always goes above and beyond the call of duty for BFA.
