College Prep

Ready to Succeed

From the time students arrive for the 9th grade Summer Institute until they submit college applications in the fall of their 12th grade year, they are involved in activities that prepare them for college. For example:

  • Starting in the 9th grade, college tours give our students a first-hand view of college life. Students are able to see themselves there.
  • All 11th graders go through SAT preparation courses.
  • As a graduation requirement, each student must apply to at least three colleges - and our goal is that every student will graduate with at least one college acceptance letter in hand.
Our partnership with the Collegebound Foundation, places a counselor in our school that helps students gain admission to college and makes certain they have the skills to succeed when they get there.  This partnership enables our students to visit colleges around the country and participate in college-based summer enrichment programs at a reduced cost. These experiences also enrich students who choose to enter the military or the workforce after high school.
