Come to BFA

BFA is a citywide school open to any Baltimore city student who is curious about life and interested in learning. Parent involvement is central to the BFA. We invite you to schedule a visit or receive information by mail. Please contact us at 443-642-2155 or admissions@baltimorefreedomacademy.org.

We view the BFA educational experience as a path to success.  It begins with the orientation and interview process to help newly admitted students and parents understand what BFA means by "a private school education at a public school price." Students and families learn that the curriculum is academically challenging, how parents can and must be involved in their child's education, and how students will become well prepared for college or the other choices they may make after high school.

Beginning in 2008, all students selected to attend the Baltimore Freedom Academy must accept their seat and attend a family orientation in order to complete the admissions process. 9th grade students will begin their school year during the summer months in our extended 9th grade school year. The extended school year is mandatory and helps students make a smooth transition from middle school to the increased workload and culture of our high school. They also start to form bonds with their classmates and teachers that will last throughout high school.

The path to success continues throughout a BFA student's education with several unique programs and courses that support the development of confident, self-directed young adults.

BFA accepts 100 new 9th grade students each fall through the BCPSS lottery system. Interested eighth grade students should contact their middle school guidance counselor to find out how to enter the lottery for BFA. Students not currently attending a Baltimore city public school should contact the BCPSS Office of Student Placement at 410-396-8600 to apply.
